Equipo crónica exhibition

Few episodes in recent Spanish art have been able to visually evoke the country´s social, political and cultural situation at a particular moment. Equipo Crónica – Rafael Solbes 1940-1981, Joan Antoni Toledo (1940-1995), who soon left the group, and Manuel Valdés (born 1942) – undertook a group, collective artistic endeavour structured into series of works inspired by the media and by easily recognisable cultural references. Equipo worked at the particularly turbulent and interesting period of the last decade of the Francoist regime and the start of the democratic Transition.

Thanks to the sponsorship of BBK Fundazioa, the Museum has been able to organise the largest retrospective to date on this legendary episode in Spanish modern art. In addition, the following educational activity will be offered:

Guided tours and Workshop

Aimed at: 3rd year Primary, ESO, Baccalaureate, adults in training programmes and special needs groups
Times: Mondays to Fridays, 10am to 5pm
Length of activity: between 90 and 120 minutes
Languages: Basque, Spanish and English
Price: 1 Euro per person

This activity encourages participation and reflection on Equipo Crónica´s ideas. Following a visit to the exhibition, the workshop session will take images from the media, advertising and popular culture or paintings representative of "high art" and transform them using silkscreen or photographic printing. These materials and techniques will be used to create a collective work.

The visit can be organised in two ways: led by the Museum´s educators or by one of the groups´ own teachers/educators.
